Welcome to The Fox Outdoors
Hello.
Some of you may know me. Some of you may not.
I've been thinking about a blog for a long time, but I wasn't sure when the right time would be. But, I chose that the time is now.
To introduce myself, I'm Genevieve Fox, a freelance journalist based in Detroit, Michigan. I grew up in the suburbs and have lived in the mitten for most of my life. Living in the Great Lakes State allowed me to be close to natural spaces and naturally, I enjoyed being outside. I would collect rocks from the beach and explore the outdoors any chance I could.
In high school, I became interested in environmental science when I took a class where we explored macroinvertebrates which are these tiny little creatures living in lakes and streams. I was fascinated by how everything in our environment is interconnected. My only thing was...I wasn't very good at doing the calculations in the class. I was much better at making presentations and writing portions.
It wasn't until I attended Michigan State University that I found I could combine the two worlds I love: environmental science and writing.
As I continued my journey in college, I found my niche in environmental journalism. This past May, I graduated with a bachelor's degree and am now exploring the world of freelance writing and blogging. The more I travel and explore my great home state and other places, the more inspired I am to write about my experiences and share with the world how great nature truly is.
I didn't have much to say as a first post, but if you are a lover of the outdoors, plants, animals, books, cooking, and all things of nature then I think you'll like what I have to offer.
Stay tuned and keep exploring.
